The Verdict: How to Pet the Fox
After extensive testing (and a lot of joyful squealing), we can confirm the method. It's not a bug. It's a feature.
- Find a fox in Elwynn Forest. The ones near Stone Cairn Lake are confirmed to work.
- Approach slowly. Do not run directly at it or it will flee.
- Position your character model so you are facing the fox's side or front. The hitbox is precise.
- Move your cursor over the fox's body. If it turns into the friendly hand, you're in.
- Right-click. Your character will perform a gentle petting animation. Enjoy the serotonin.
Warning: Other players in the area will see the animation. Be prepared for whispers asking how you did it. Spread the word. The age of mindless grinding is over. The age of the pettable fox has begun.
